Must-have diet foods

So…. I’m going to share with you what my personal favourite diet foods are. These are the things I focus on buying when I’m feeling bloated and want to see more definition. I have only dieted once in my life - meaning not allowing myself any treats at all, and I’d never want to do it again. It was horrible. My body shaped up nicely but I wasn’t happy. I felt deprived. Besides, science dictates that going at it 100% is NOT wise, and the results will not last. Your sweet spot of eating quality “clean” food is somewhere between 80-90% (10-20% being treats, or ‘dirty foods’), that’s where you’ll get your dream body whilst being able to enjoy all your favourite naughty food and drinks, even alcohol. And cake. And chocolate.

But... when I’m wanting to lose weight and feel fantastic, here’s a list of the items I make sure to have in my fridge/cupboards:

  • tuna
  • cottage cheese
  • chicken breast
  • turkey breast mince
  • walnuts
  • peanut butter
  • natural yoghurt (with live cultures)
  • fromage frais
  • frozen berries
  • frozen veg
  • fresh fruit (apples, bananas and oranges/other orange coloured fruit)
  • ready mixed stir-fry veg bags
  • many different colours of veg & salad
  • microwave rice (soooooo quick :D)
  • tinned mackerel
  • hummus
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • wheat bran (great for digestion - pure fibre, 0 calories)
  • green tea (I prefer mint flavoured)
  • coffee (a couple of cups a day is food for health)
  • and plenty of spices

Note, that these are the foods that I personally enjoy and that’s why they make my fat loss much easier. A key factor in anyone's weight loss shopping list is to go for foods you enjoy that are single ingredients (and that means making meals from scratch too).

I want to give a special shout out to avocados as well!! They'd definitely be on my shopping list if my stomach could handle them (avocados have got the best possible quality fats in the world [monounsaturated fat]).

Whatever is on your own shopping list, I would always suggest you steer away from most 'diet foods' like many low fat products (they replace the flavour with sugar and/or sweeteners). Just find the stuff you enjoy and go from there.

What’s on your flex dieting shopping list?
